With "eID" you can show your driver's license easily, securely and digitally

With the "eID" app, you can present your driver's license in Austria easily, securely and digitally on your smartphone - both at a traffic check and in your private life. Simply share your driving license data at the push of a button and completely contactless. No data transfer takes place without your consent.

How it works :

1. Log in to the "Digitales Amt" app with your ID Austria.

2. Download the "eID" app for free.

3. Activate the "eID" app using your ID Austria and the "Digital Office" app and load your digital driver's license onto your smartphone.

4. Protect the app with fingerprint or face recognition.

5. At an ID check, simply show the QR code that is created in the app for your driver's license. Your counterpart scans the QR code with a test device and can thus retrieve the required data.

The digital driving license is valid within Austria.

You need:

- A valid Austrian credit card driver's license

- An ID Austria with full functionality - more information can be found at oe.gv.at/u/id-austria

- Activated fingerprint function or face recognition

- Installed the "Digital Office" app on the same device

No new user account is required for the "eID" app, you simply identify yourself using your ID Austria. ID Austria is a further development of the mobile phone signature and offers secure two-factor authentication for digital services. To do this, log in of the "Digital Office" app with your ID Austria and allow the e-ID app to access the required information. Both apps are secured by fingerprint function or face recognition.

The app is constantly being developed and new documents will be added in the future.
